Synopsis:

Philadelphia streets were never silent. Gangs wars on corners, screeching cars on avenues, and squealing steel trolley tires on tracks kept you alert for the next confrontation. Philadelphia playgrounds were sometimes silent. These were sanctuaries where you confronted your deepest memories. These were places packed with people, but on a summer's midday, they were virtually empty. Streets made habitable again by the actions of a few good men.

The premise of the story, a budding basketball star preparing to head back to college, is promising. I was disappointed the author did little to elaborate on the events of a weekend and past actions that have led to a showdown between a young man who took the right path and his enemy, who let the Philadelphia streets destroy his future. Most of the book is repetitive conversations with any new events or challenges meeting our protaganist only lasting a few paragraphs.
