After many years of being a housewife Betty Marple suddenly finds herself all alone and enmeshed in a seeming inescapable situation. A situation her husband Gerald had created before he was suddenly killed in a car accident. Unknown visitors arrive at her house and turn her life upside down. Getting caught up in the middle of a shoot-out in the local grocery store she ends up running for her life. Along the way she meets several total strangers who not only come to her rescue but as she finds out are a vital part of her life.
